How to Build a Girl – A Review

How to Build a Girl by Caitlin Moran was an interesting read.

I finished it fairly quickly considering I had so many other things on my plate.

It is a story about a girl named Johanna Morrigan. At the beginning she is 14 years old and ends up completely embarrassing herself on local TV. Because of this, she decides to reinvent herself as Dolly Wilde.

She begins to write reviews for a music magazine, and ends up going through all the changes that come with being a teenaged girl. She discovers a lot about herself and the world she steps into.

I definitely recommend this to anyone who needs a bit of a laugh and has a love for music. You will get a kick out of it.

On goodreads, I gave it 3 out of 5 stars. While it was entertaining and funny, there was also something kind of missing from it. If you’re kind of a prude, you might not like how the sex scenes are written in this book. It’s from a humorous and somewhat crude perspective.

I stick with my initial rating, but do think it’s an enjoyable and quick read.

This gets three metal horns out five.
